Write for us

Honest Cinema Review welcomes pitches that help readers notice how a film works. Send proposals through the Contact page, with the reason for writing marked as an editorial question or proposal where available.

Ideas we welcome

We consider close readings of particular film choices, thoughtful comparisons of form, and accessible essays on performance, image, sound or storytelling. Strong proposals have a distinct question and explain what a reader will see differently after considering it.

A useful pitch

Tell us the central idea, the film or films involved, the details you would examine and why the subject suits this publication. Keep the proposal focused enough to show its shape. Please mention any relevant interests or relationships that could affect how readers understand the piece.

Before sending

We value clear, original writing and claims that can be supported by the work itself or reliable context. Do not send a finished article unless invited. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication, and we may edit accepted work for clarity and length.

Our point of view

A verdict is only the beginning

We look for the choices behind a film’s effect, and leave room for viewers to see those choices differently.
